Images of America: The 1939-1940 New York World's Fair - The World of Tomorrow

I was thrilled with my first book on the 1939-1940 Fair, but there was a lot I had to leave out due to space issues. Happily I was able to do this second book that provides more looks at some of the best known parts of the Fair, but it also covers some important areas such as the art at the Fair, projections for future living, and many other seldome seen parts of this extravaganza.

Released in 2009 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Fair, this book was a real treat to put together, as I really enjoyed the opportunity to go through my collection of photos from the Fair looking for ways to convey how majestic it was. I tried to stay away from re-using the standard and staged publicity photos seen in most other books about the Fair, hoping to capture instead what a day might have been like for the average visitor.
