From April 22, 1964 until October 17, 1965 a very special world existed. Dozens of colorful pavilions entertained visitors from around the world, with demonstrations of amazing new technologies said to be just around the corner. The short two year life of the 1964-1965 New York World's Fair may have ended, but for many of us the memories live on. Unfortunately, without a time machine you can't head back to those exciting days in Flushing Meadows. However, you can take a trip down memory lane through this collection of photos from the World's Fair. This is the largest collection of photos from the 1964-65 New York World's Fair available anywhere.

Forty different photo CDs are currently available, priced at $10 each plus a flat fee of $4.80 for Priority Mail shipping, no matter how many discs you order. The original slides have been scanned at either 2900 or 4000 DPI and digitally corrected to restore colors and remove dirt and scratches. CD #12 is a set of stereo 3-D images of the Fair, viewable on your PC. A set of 3-D glasses is included with the purchase of this CD. These pictures were taken with a 35mm Realist camera and are not related in any way to the Viewmaster reels from the Fair.

Frequently asked questions about these photos

• Are the pictures copyrighted? Yes - all of the images are copyrighted. The photos on each CD are copyright 2005 by Bill Cotter. You are granted a non-exclusive right to use these photos under the following conditions:
  
  1) The CD is not to be duplicated.
  2) Prints made from the photos are for your personal use only. Photos cannot be sold, traded, bartered or put on a web site without advance written permission.
   
• What format are the images, and what is needed to view or print them? Each picture is a JPG file, an industry standard format which can be read in just about every image editing and viewing package, as well as in most web browsers. Click here to download a full-size sample. It has been rotated to make it easier to view online.
• How were the CDs created? The original slides and negatives were scanned on a Nikon Coolscan scanner at 2900 or 4000 DPI. Digital Ice was used for color correction and dust/scratch removal. Additional cleanup and cropping was done in Photoshop. All pictures were saved at a JPG setting of 10 to provide high quality images. Note: Disk #12, which is a set of original 3D photos from the the Fair, is scanned at 600 DPI due to the size of the 3D images. Some prints were scanned on an Epson 4870 scanner with Digital ICE and then cleaned in Photoshop.
• What type of cameras and film were originally used? A wide variety of cameras was used. There is a mixture of 35mm and Instamatic size formats, as well as several larger format negatives. The original slides and negatives were shot on Kodachrome, Kodacolor, Ektachrome, Ektacolor and other film stock.
• How is the quality of the pictures? To be honest, it ranges from some obvious amateur shots which could have benefited from a tripod all the way to some that are absolutely beautiful. At the risk of being immodest, I believe this is the best collection of photos from the Fair now available. A thumbnail view of each picture is available on the contact sheets to help you decide. • Why are some of the pictures sideways? All of the pictures have been left in their original format in order to make it easier to print them. If a picture was originally taken by turning the camera sideways the picture has been left that way. You can easily rotate them for viewing online in most editing and viewing programs.
• If I don't like the CD can I get a refund? Just like with music CDs and videos, discs are non-returnable. Defective discs will be exchanged for the same title. If you have questions about a specific image please drop me a note and I'll do my best to answer it. In case it makes you rest any easier, I have sold several hundred CDs so far and no one has asked for a refund.
